Locally owned and operated Small Engine Repairs
My small business started in 2019 and officially went full-time in November 2024. I am the only employee, and my name is Devan Cleland. I moved here in 2016 with my wife, Cristina, and our Border Collie/Chocolate Lab named Sadie.
How it started: I grew up working on classic cars and hot rods with my dad, who was a mechanic. We built a go-kart from scratch when I was eight; eventually, I outgrew that, bought dirt bikes, and always had to turn wrenches to keep them going. When I was a teenager and young adult, I was educated in and worked in automotive and powersport repairs. In 2018, my wife was on maternity leave, and I was not getting full-time hours working as an Ironworker Foreman. I was always seeing social media questions in our community about lawnmower repairs, most of which went unanswered, and people were directed halfway across the city or some distance to a rural shop. I said to my wife, “I am experienced with that work; I will hang some flyers and supplement my missing hours.” From that day, I quickly gained a few loyal customers, and word of mouth started spreading. The posters eventually fell apart and were not re posted because balancing now two kids, a full-time job, and a part-time job that was growing became complicated. I took many long breaks from it over the years, but the requests and demand kept presenting itself. In the summer of 2024, I was laid off after 14 years with my employer to aid my daughter with her medical journey, and the decision just seemed simple to get the word spread again: I’m back in business and doing it full-time.
We have two healthy, wonderful kids and a 12-year-old Sadie who still acts like she is four.
I work in the community where my kids go to school and daycare. I give back to the community whenever possible by volunteering or donating to community events. You’ll be met with a friendly person who will serve you with honesty and integrity every time. I stand behind my work and will provide high-quality workmanship for fair and competitive costs.
I offer repairs for your gas-powered small engine power equipment and yard care equipment, including lawn mowers, riding mowers, zero-turn mowers, string trimmers, chainsaws, handheld blowers, backpack blowers, ice augers, snowblowers, plate packers, pressure washers, and more. Flat-rate equipment maintenance packages are available. I provide professional lawnmower blade sharpening and balancing, as well as professional chainsaw sharpening. I am a dealer for Interstate Batteries. I have many common service parts in stock and can acquire most not stocked in a reasonable time. I encourage people to support local businesses for parts instead of the online world; you’ll be surprised at how often we have better prices than online. Transportation of your equipment is a service I provide.
