Growing up in Charleswood, we always knew who to call.
People in the area are asking for recommendations of someone local every day, either from friends and family or on social media.
This website was created with the idea that if you are a consumer and have a need to be met, using suburbbeautiful.ca means that you will be able to easily look up a neighbor to hire or support.
The directory is solely made up of Service Providers that either grew up in the neighbourhood or have chosen to live in Charleswood now.
You are guaranteed to be hiring someone from the area, and it’s more than likely that you will recognize a name or two in the directory.

This site was born out of a need for a list that I could trust.
When I moved back to Charleswood 5 years ago, I moved into a 45 year old home that has needed extensive repairs and renovations. I asked for recommendations of local people on the Facebook groups from the neighbourhood and found that the referrals were often not actually local and in one case not people I would ever allow in my home again.
My parents are just like many other older residents of the neighborhood that are choosing to age in place, and I wanted to make a list of people for them to use when they find a job too big for them to handle themselves.
The building of this site has reconnected me with old friends, introduced me to new neighbours and has allowed me to write a little love letter to the uniqueness of Charleswood and the people in it that would rather support each other when given the choice.
Charleswood has grown exponentially in the past few years. My hope is that this site brings our community closer, with a little help from our neighbours.
